Male Torso-

Male Torso, by Robert Liberace

Male Torso, by Robert Liberace

Three weeks ago, Robert created this torso in class.  It was done very quickly but turned out beautifully.  I especially love the area along the shoulder and arms you can see how skillfully the shadows were rendered.

This was drawn on tinted twinrocker paper with the verithin pencils.  Because he had a limited time, Rob concentrated on the torso instead of worrying about trying to capture the entire figure.

The only highlights were placed using an eraser and in two or three places a ‘white’ general’s charcoal pencil.

Slight delay

I am still not 100% up on the internet-have to work on installing a new router, which means unpacking a few more things.  So, I am still out of pocket for awhile.

Most of the painting on the first floor is done on my new place, need to finish the windows and some minor touch ups.  It’s a huge relief to be almost finished.  Yeah.

Friday at class was great- we have a model for a three-week pose and they put him in a gorgeous pose that looks great from any angle.  Because I have two more sessions I am not rushing things on the drawing.

A guy named Mark showed up for the class, he’s studying in Italy and after class he showed me the work he’s been doing in class-imagine; 4  hours a day for five weeks on one pose (charcoal).  The pictures were great but I’d like to see the drawings in person.  He’s showing up next week to talk about the academy he’s attending~I can’t wait!

The fundraiser that the Alexandria Art League staged last night for Ada was a success. Rob drew a wonderful chalk drawing and later a portrait of Desi and he then created a wonderful painting of Livia’s back.

Over $4k was raised by Robert Liberace, the great models who donated their time and by the patrons who showed up to participate and help in such an important cause. Special thanks to Mary who provided nourishment and plugging as well as Margret Cerutti who made the evening possible.

I am writing this from my phone since the renovations aren’t complete on my new place (that French for no Internet, sigh).
I will post pictures once I am back on the net.
